Reading
The content required for reading is:
- A complete play by Shakespeare of by another pre-1914 dramatist
- Prose work by at least one Anglo-Irish author
- Non-fiction
- Media
- Poetry from other cultures and traditions
Writing
Candidates are required to:
- Explore, imagine, entertain
- Inform, explain, describe
- Argue, persuade, advise
- Review, analsye, comment
in a variety of forms and genres.
Homeworks may be derived from past papers and the revision guide accompanying the text book. English teachers should encourage the reading of 'quality' newspapers to develop the vocabulary of each pupil.
