C.O.P.E
The Certificate in Personal Effectiveness (C.O.P.E.) has been introduced at Belfast Boy’s Model to provide a framework for the development, assessment and accreditation of generic and wider key skills and wider activities, through a nationally recognised qualification at level 3. This qualification is equivalent to 70 UCAS points, or a grade A at AS level.
It is targetted at students in post-16 education, primarily in Year 13, embarking on AS/A2 or vocational programme.
Students complete credits from the enrichment programme including career planning and an optional unit from Sports Award, Leadership Skills, Welcome Europe Programme, Mentoring and an Independent Living Skills programme. In each case, students must effectively demonstrate sufficient portfolio evidence of all the activities undertaken.
Students need to demonstrate competence in the wider key skills of Working with Others, Improving Own Learning and Performance and Problem Solving at level 3.
Additionally, it is necessary to demonstrate competence in the units Planning and carrying out research, Communicating through Discussion and Planning and giving an oral presentation at level 3.
