| Tom McKeown | I went to the Model in 1955-57 and would like to see some pictures from back then. If anyone has some photos maybe you could post them on the site or contact the school with them. Signed on: 29/09/08 |
| Jonathan Sproule | I left around 98-99. I remember teachers such as Mr Mullan, Mrs Baird, Mrs Dinsmore, Mr Beattie, Mr Patterson and the Headmaster, Mr Keith and many more. I have many fond memories of the school, although I wasn't a very good attender. I now live and work in London as a professional musician and am greatful for the professionalism and dedication of the great staff at the school . All the best and good luck for the future. | jamie mccarroll | I attended the Model from 2000-2006 - it was the best time. When I was a Prefect me and my mates Justin Jamison and Stephen Renwick had a laugh. Signed on: 16/09/08 |
| Alan McCullough | I attended the Model from 1964 until 1971. Mr McNeilly was the Boss, Ernie Davis his DHT along with Pete Fowler. Couldn't help remembering those days as I am a primary school principal teacher in Scotland fast approaching the end of my career. The Model was tough but good. It set me up for life and despite the odd "slap" I hold it dear to my heart. Signed on: 2/09/08 |
| George Plummer | I visited Belfast a couple of weeks ago and somebody mentioned that the Model had a new web site. Thanks to Google I can find it from my office in Houston, Texas! I’m amazed to see my old class-mate Ronnie Ince in the Guest Book! Like him, I attended the Model between 1956 and 1959 before heading the BRA after Junior Certificate. Ernie Davis knocked Pythagoras into my head where it still remains along with memories of the Invisible Man read by Pete Fowler. Sadly, the French that Mr. Sterling tried to instill didn’t take. It’s a bit late but “thanks” to all those great teachers for the educational foundation and respect for learning they fostered. I know that without that grounding my career would not have been as interesting or successful. Signed on: 27/08/08 |
| GARETH BLADES | I attended the Boys' Model from Sep 1989 to June 1997, I was an old man when I left! I enjoyed every bit of it. Teachers who I recall and have great memories of are Geordie Beattie, Dennis Banks, Mr Cotton, Mr Leaney, Davey McKendry, Maggie Fry and the list could go on!!! I see the new school building comming on now, great news!! But the Ballysillan Road will not look the same when the old School vanishes. Some fond memories during my time there, I can still smell the classrooms and corridors....(is that weird)!! Happy Days!!!! Signed on: 10/08/08 |
| andy magill | Attended 1964-68. Mr. McNeilly was the boss, Ernie Davis, Mr Johnston, Mr Dinsmore. Most of the teachers had great nicknames that I remember better than their own names. It is a good school, I have a few fond memories. I try to drive past everytime we return to Belfast. Signed on: 5/08/08 |
| Colin Davies | Hi. I was at the School from 85 to 92 and cannot believe it's been so long since I left. My memories are: Liz Armour, Davie McKendry (Milky Bar Kid), Ma Fry, Basher Banks, Spot the History teacher.... I could go on! It was great times that I look back on fondly. I have been in the the RAF for over 12 years and thank Davie McKendry who always had faith that a troublesome Shankill Rd lad could do well. I am now a Flt Lt in the RAF and have gained a 1st Class Eng degree and move on to a MSc. The Staff were always so professional-even picking me up from home to make sure I got to school! I was not a good at attending. I do hope to make a visit sometime soon. Davy McKendry if you read this, Clifford, my brother has also got his degree-again I think you always knew we would come good! Thanks to all of you! Signed on: 17/07/08 |

| Paul Gribben | I started the Boys Model School from 1980-1985. I remember Mr Swan who taught music, I got to join the choir. I remember Mr Todd who taught History and his nickname was shoe-string. The best teacher I had while I was at the Boys Model School was Mr Mc Cleneghan who taught Geography. On a Tuesday evening he took a group of us to meet up with another school called Orange Field Secondary School, where we joined the scripture Union and we would play games and read the Bible every week. I really enjoyed my time at the Boys' Model School. The Headmaster Mr Davis presented me with a plaque because I had attended the school for 5 years and never missed a day. I still have that plaque today and every time I look at it ,it will always bring back the memories I had of the time I was at the Boys' Model School. Signed on: 14/07/08 |
