Match Report:
I told the boys from the start not to be over confident and have faith in the formation and to go out and enjoy the game but keep the ball on the ground. From the off Model B showed that they intended to improve from their last friendly against Ashfield 5th Years, as they started the game with all of the ball and some wonderful passing and control movements. The formation and tactics seemed to suit Model B down to the ground as everyone looked comfortable on the ball and they moved the ball about the field wonderfully. The first goal came when a ball over the top from Andrew Cochrane found its way to an onside Carl Morrison, Carls quick control brought the ball down to his feet, and what looked like a cross found its way just above the keeper which he reacted to palm into the net, a bit of luck on Models part at last.
The boys didn't stop. After the goal they got straight back into the game and controlled most of the ball. Then came Inst's best chance of the match when a strike from just inside the box was blocked away from Guy Spence's feet. Guy had another good game this time with a well deserved clean sheet, as he controlled his penalty area well.
Model B then had another chance at Inst's end. A throw-in found its way perfectly to David Bright who smashed a wonder strike off the bar and possibly just behind the line, but the ref didn't give it.
At half-time I found it almost impossible to find a single error in the teams performance and told them to keep playing as they are, to keep composed and not get over confident.
Model B’s next goal came finally from David Bright as he took control of a very good long ball and chipped the Inst goal keeper, just into the second half.
Model B continued playing some wonderful passing, flowing football. Ryan Mills in particular controlled the midfield very well along with Neil McAneney whos turn it was as captain, which to his credit he done very well. Then came the third, Neil made a run from deep and had a well hit strike which found its way low to the Inst goalkeepers right hand side.
Model B were flying and their play and teamwork was unbelievable as they rushed to another, with substitute James Miller running onto a Ryan Mills through ball and skipped past the keeper to finish calmly.
At the end of the game I told the boys that in comparison to the game against Ashfield , they had played like an Irish League amateur side. The squad told they enjoyed the formation and I was very happy with their performances.
