On Friday 25th September the Year 8 rugby squad had their first scheduled match against Parkhall Secondary school. With both sides being new to the game and to make it fun and enjoyable for all it was decided to split the squads into 2 and to play 2 “Sevens” games alongside each other over at Ballysillan playing fields.
The boys were duly put into their teams and play commenced. The Year 8 teams from both sides put on a great show, and all performed well, greatly enjoying the experience. The spirit in which the games were played was ideal and one BBMS boy was heard by the referee to ask if another boy was OK when he hit him to the ground hard!
Final score 5:3 & 3:1 both BBMS teams winning their respective matches. Needless to say the boys were buoyed up by their win and had to be restrained from singing too loudly in the bus on the way back to school. Hopefully this attitude to fair play and camaraderie will continue into their next match.
