David's Musical Talents on show

On Sunday 25th October, David Ashe got his opportunity to perform with Barry Douglas and his Camarata Ireland Orchestra at a concert held in the City Hall. David had been given the task of learning how to play the concert flute in 8 months and he has been receiving special lessons from his flute teacher Mr. John Brown. During the 8 months, David has had many exciting opportunities working with famous musicians such as Sir James Galway and he has enjoyed the whole experience. David, together with 7 other pupils from schools in Northern Ireland have been filmed throughout this project both at home and in school. We will be able to watch the programmes next year and see David at different stages of the project.

David had to prepare a short piece and perform as a soloist to a small audience at the School of Music in preparation for the main concert. All 8 pupils involved prepared an arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon and performed this to a large audience in the City Hall with the Camarata Ireland Orchestra and Barry Douglas conducting. As a special surprise to all the pupils, they were presented with the instrument they had been learning to play as a thank you for all their hard work and dedication to this project. David will be continuing with his flute lessons in the future and we would like to say thanks to David for his patience and commitment to this project - well done!
