Nine boys took part in the Shankill Festival of Remembrance in the Spectrum Centre on Thursday 5th November at 7.30pm. These boys formed our flute band and played a medley of songs including British Soldier, Over the Rainbow and Kilaloo. The band was made up as follows: Curtis Coggle, Curtis Dickson, John Trainor, David Ashe, Brodie Evitt (flute), Scott Madden (bass drum), Adam Johnston, Matthew Madden (side drum) and Daryn Ashe (cymbals).
A number of other organisations also took part during the evening including Sea Cadets and the UVF Regimental Band. The event ended with the Act of Remembrance when all those who had participated were called onto stage, there was a 2 minute silence and a poppy drop to remember those who had given their lives in the past.
