Child Protection & Safeguarding

Keeping pupils safe and equipping them with the lifelong skills to maintain their own safety is of paramount importance at Belfast Boys’ Model School.

To that end, a comprehensive preventative curriculum is in place. Issues including internet safety, building resilience, maintaining good mental health, and sexual health and relationships are specifically addressed through the curriculum subject areas of Learning for Life and Work, ICT, RE and Science, but also through a tailored pastoral programme.

The pastoral curriculum is dedicated time each week, when pupils engage with a range of outside providers including Achieve NI, Streetbeat, PSNI, Belfast City Council and Women’s Aid.
