Sports Coaching Liverpool Trip

20 pupils and 2 staff travelled to Liverpool on June 14th for the annual trip for the Sports Coaching class. This was another amazing experience for all involved and was an action packed 2 days. We started off with a visit to the Wigan Athletic academy and a coaching session led by a UEFA ‘A- licence ‘coach, we then got a tour of the facilities and gained an understanding of the life of an academy player at a Championship level club. On route to play a fixture against an LLS select side, we visited both Goodison Park and the DW stadium. The Boys’ Model team emerged victorious 5-3 in the game, with man of the match Matthew Hanna bagging a brace. A brief shopping trip to L1 and dinner at Aintree ended an exhausting first day.

The second day of the trip involved a coaching session at the Liverpool academy at Kirby and a tour of the very impressive facilities and a presentation from one of the coaches. We finished off the trip with a tour of Anfield, including a visit to the museum and lunch in the boot room restaurant.

A thoroughly enjoying time was had by all as well as gaining a unique insight into elite level football and coaching.
